Sustainability in the BSA is much more than a merit badge, and the media is taking notice. A recent article in Dwell magazine showcased the Sustainability Treehouse at the Paul R. Christen National High Adventure Base at the Summit.

Standing 125 feet tall and featuring 4,000 square feet of interactive exhibits demonstrating sustainable practices, the treehouse is the centerpiece of Scouting’s commitment to sustainability. Read the article in Dwell.

The Treehouse also received the Award of Honor from the American Institute of Architects (AIA) Seattle chapter. The award was presented to architecture firm Mithun to celebrate excellence in design, and the Sustainability Treehouse was praised “for its inventive scale, integration of green building systems, and exploration and understanding the site and ecosystem at the ground, tree canopy, and sky levels.”
