Did you know that Scouts camped a total of 6,093,410 nights during 2013? Or that Scouts across America recorded 17,042,938 hours of service to their communities last year? These are just two of the facts compiled in the 2013 Report to the Nation, which was delivered to members of Congress and other government leaders in late February.

The Report to the Nation fulfills one of the obligations of the BSA’s congressional charter under Title 36 of the United States Code. Each year, a delegation representing Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Venturers, and Sea Scouts is handpicked to deliver the report to U.S. Cabinet, House, and Senate leadership, as well as the White House, CIA, Pentagon, and Supreme Court.

This year’s delegation included:

  • Andrew Bonney, Eagle Scout, La Plata, Maryland
  • Nicholas Dannemiller, Eagle Scout and National Order of the Arrow Chief, Tualitin, Oregon
  • Billy McElligott, Quartermaster and National Sea Scout Boatswain, Boca Raton, Florida
  • Scott Niles, Star Scout, Williamson, New York
  • Annaliese Parker, National Venturing President, Saratoga, California
  • Jocques Ross Jr., Life Scout, Fairburn, Georgia
  • Paul Thao, Life Scout, St. Paul, Minnesota
  • Edwin Tout, Webelos Scout, Sandy Hook, Connecticut
  • Shane Uribe, Eagle Scout, Santee, California

Check out the BSA’s Flickr page for photos of the delegation’s memorable trip to Washington, D.C.
