De Tan Nguyen has been named learning delivery team leader at Scouting University.
De gives leadership to the Learning Delivery Training Team in ScoutingU and is responsible for the operations to ensure our customers are appropriately qualified, certified, and trained to deliver training content to volunteers and professionals throughout the organization.
De’s team is also responsible for strategizing and implementing a comprehensive framework for advancing the full range of learning delivery of the Boy Scouts of America.
De began his professional Scouting career in June 1984 as a district executive in Van Nuys, California. In February 1987, he was promoted to senior district executive of the South Florida Council in Miami Lakes, Florida. In January 1990, he became district director and later served as director of camping for the Orange County council in Costa Mesa, California. Then, he joined the National staff in December 1994 and served successfully as associate director, Urban Emphasis/Scoutreach Division.
In June 2002, he joined the Center for Professional Development. In September 2008, he became director, multicultural markets, until he assumed his present position in September 2014. De is an Eagle Scout. He and his wife Lan have two daughters, Davina and Leeza. De is a graduate of Salem College in West Virginia, where he earned a Youth Agency Administration degree.
